It is through 'Rites of Passage' ceremonies that people have long been able to rise above their differences & join together in a common dignity of humanity. Rituals are often unique, but the spirit behind these demonstrations of recognition & honoring are the same the world over.
This Rites of Passage project is our own form of celebration that speaks to many levels - obvious to subtle, personal to universal. Our commitment to put appreciation before criticism is the key we use to liberate & empower the creative potential in each other.
We see this Coming of Age for each one of us. The spirit of this gathering has called for a restructuring in the ways we relate to each other. In one way or another, we're all shifting from the authoritarian, hierarchical pyramid forms of control to the ancient nurturing circle structures that foster healing & empowerment. It's only fitting that our teenagers should remind us of how important it is to make that shift. What better way to celebrate than by demonstrating what can happen when generations put down their barriers & work together in mutual respect.
The circle at the core of this musical journey is the medicine symbol that holds the healing energy we would like to extend to our families & the world. 'There never was a beginning & there will never be an end.'
