This is the album with what supposed to be, as its maker termed it, 'the world's first disposable title.' Security, or Peter Gabriel a fourth time around, may be unsure of its specific identity, but that is where uncertainty ends. Released in the fall of 1982, this digitally recorded & mastered LP is a sonic masterpiece which has also served Peter Gabriel's career as well. 'You don't listen to a Peter Gabriel (LP) as much as live it," wrote one critic about Security, & as a cross-section of opinions reflects the warmth which his unorthodoxy is accepted. Security is filled with sounds, textures & imagery, much of it, by contemporary standards, a bit exotic. There's 'Rhythm Of The Heat', a sensual track concerning psychologist/philosopher Carl Jung's somewhat metaphysical experiences with a group of African drummers. There's 'San Jacinto', about the death of an American Indian &, perhaps, of his culture as well. And there's 'Shock The Monkey', Gabriel's interpretation of the compulsive mid-60's Motown rhythms.
